CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Alpaca and merino wool naturally resist odor and surface soil, so your Ritter rarely needs cleaning after a single wear. Airing and resting the garment between wears helps preserve its softness, shape, and drape.

01 — AIR AND REST

After wearing, empty the pockets and allow your Ritter to air. Natural fibers rarely need cleaning after every wear. Giving the garment time to rest helps preserve its shape and freshness.

02 — TREAT SPOTS FIRST

Blot spills promptly with a clean cloth and cool water. Never rub or aggressively scrub the fabric. Gentle spot treatment can often prevent the need for a full cleaning.

For persistent stains or uncertainty about treatment, consult a professional dry cleaner.

03 — DRY CLEANING

Professional dry cleaning is the preferred care method for all Ritter garments. RitterVests must be professionally dry cleaned—never machine washed or tumble dried—to preserve their structure and longevity.

04 — WASHING UNSTRUCTURED PIECES AT HOME

For sweaters and other unstructured Ritter pieces, careful hand washing in cool water can be used when needed.

Always use a detergent designed for fine natural fibers. We recommend The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo, formulated for wool, cashmere, merino, alpaca, and other delicate fibers.

Do not twist, rub, or wring the garment. Gently press out excess water with a clean towel, reshape it, and allow it to dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight.

SOCKS

For socks, use cool water and a detergent designed for fine natural fibers. Do not use chlorine bleach. Press out excess water gently and dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight.

PILLING

Fine wool can develop small pills where friction occurs. This is normal. Remove them gently with a wool comb or sweater comb while the garment lies flat—never pull them by hand.
